Who We Are
Nordic Impact is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting inclusive, democratic, and sustainable development in the Horn of Africa. Guided by the principles of the Nordic Model—democracy, human rights, gender equality, transparency, and accountability—we work closely with local communities to tackle deep-seated inequalities and empower people to claim their rights.
Since we started, Nordic Impact has worked on projects in:
• Human rights
• Health
• Democracy and good governance
Our approach is community-driven, focusing on two important groups:
• Rights-holders — the people and communities, especially women, girls, and marginalized groups, whose rights we help protect and empower.
• Duty-bearers — the institutions and leaders responsible for upholding these rights, who we support through dialogue, training, and accountability measures.
Across all our work, we follow a Rights-Based Approach, making sure that:
• People participate actively in decisions that affect their lives
• Those in power are held accountable and supported to do the right thing
• Everyone, especially women, girls, minorities, and marginalized groups, is treated fairly and equally
• Our programs are transparent, ethical, and focused on real results
• Communities and local institutions take ownership to ensure lasting change
Our Mission
Our Vision
